About Us
The items we sell at online-irish.com are far from ordinary. They tell a story. It is a story about Celtic Irish history, traditions, and symbols, that have meaning for any culture or nationality. From our Aran knitwear to our one-of-a-kind stained glass art, the story is right there. Aran knitwear has its origins from the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland. The cable stitch depicts the ropes used by fishermen and a wish for a bountiful day’s catch. The diamond knit pattern reflects the small farming fields of the island. The diamond might be filled with a stitch that is reminiscent of the moss or seaweed that fertilizes the fields, producing a wish for health and success. One of our most popular lamps, The Trinity Stained Glass Lamp, has glass cut to form a Celtic knot – the trinity or triquetra knot. With multiple theories of origins and meanings, this triangular shaped knot carries meanings for many cultures and belief systems. To the Christian faith it represents the Holy Trinity of the father, son, and Holy Spirit. Among Neopagans and Wiccans it symbolizes – maiden, mother, and crone or innocence, creation, and wisdom. For Celts it represents land, sky and sea or earth, water, and fire. To some it is just a beautiful, colorful, and unique design for a piece of clothing or a home décor item.
So, there you have it. Online-Irish.com sells Celtic themed items that all cultures will appreciate. You’ll also see the occasional Leprechaun and Fairy along with other “necessities” to properly celebrate the more fun and amusing aspects of Irish life – shamrock clothing items and décor, garden statues/decorations, Irish pub ware (including neon lights and clocks), wedding accessories (including the famous pence for her shoe), Irish flags, and all things for St. Patrick’s Day. We love hearing from our customers. Many of our lines originated from customers’ suggestions. For example, our lines of infant Christening clothing, Holiday Décor, and suncatchers.
